UPDATE

28 Feb

Hi Everyone,

We know things have been quiet since our last posts over Christmas and New Year’s, so we wanted to keep you included in our SNOW family and really get you up-to-date with where everything stands for the up and coming release of SNOW Version 0.1.

The bad news: there are a few unexpected technical issues which are slowing us down. We’re working through them, but they’re definitely making the ride a little more choppy. Once these are resolved, though, things will move forward very quickly.

The good news is that while our programmer has been working on resolving the technical issues, our artist has been working hard to get the game world looking the way we all want it to. As you could see in the screenshots we released late last year, things are looking better and better. As we get closer to releasing SNOW 0.1, we’ll start giving you an even closer look at the different faces and lines that will be open for exploration.

Until then, we urge you to keep spreading the word, talking to us on the forums– and most important, enjoying the winter!

CHRISTMAS COMPETITION

13 Dec

Hello Again!

With Christmas fast approaching, we feel bad for breaking our promise to give you Version 0.1 before the end of the year. So we decided to give you a little holiday treat:

Now is your chance to wish for what you want to see in the game!

That’s right: post a comment on our Facebook Page with an art asset that you would like to see us create. We will then select the most popular request, create it and include it in Version 0.1. The person with the winning idea (or whoever posts the winning idea first) will also get a customized banner or sign-post on the mountain with their name on it!

So, visit our Facebook Page and put us to work. Please, however, keep these rules in mind:

  • The content cannot be offensive in any way (any offensive ideas will be deleted from our wall)
  • The content has to be something which would typically be found on a mountain (it can be man-made)
  • It cannot be an animal (as we would rather not animate animals right now)
  • We can’t do rails quite yet, so even though it may be at the top of your list of requests, it won’t be very useful on the mountain until later releases

We look forward to hearing some of your ideas!

A LITTLE UPDATE

9 Dec

It has been a while since our last post, so I felt an update was in order. We have both good and bad news – which one would you like first?

The bad news is that we will not be releasing Version 0.1 before the New Year. We have run into some technical problems that have slowed us down and pushed back our release date. But don’t worry, things are still progressing and we are really eager to get you a working build as soon as possible.

The good news is that we have made progress in refining the visuals. Since many of you expressed concern over the graphics in our announcement trailer, we have worked really hard to revamp a lot of the assets and give the whole mountain a makeover. To show our progress, we have some screenshots to share with you. We hope that you agree that things are looking much better!

So, please hold on while we work out our technical problems over the holidays and prepare a release of Version 0.1 for you in the New Year.

SNOW DAY

9 Nov

It has been exactly a week since we announced SNOW, and what a week it has been for us at Poppermost Productions! Our announcement was covered nearly everywhere, but here is a small selection:

Everyone seems super excited about the game and our plans with it in the future. This gives us even more drive to produce an excellent experience. We’re working hard on Version 0.1 and hope to reveal its contents soon. In the meantime, why not head over to the SNOW Forum and let us know what you’d like to see in the future.

Until next time!

/Team SNOW

(PS: We’re still waiting for snow to fall but if you’ve got snow where you live, take a picture and tweet it to @SNOWthegame)

WHERE EVERY DAY IS A BLUEBIRD

2 Nov

Welcome to our website and to the world of SNOW. We have been preparing this for a long time and are glad to finally show the public what we’ve been up to!

As a group of lifetime skiers and snowboarders, we are constantly on the lookout for new ski and snowboard titles. From 1080° Snowboarding to more recent games like Shaun White: Snowboarding, Stoked and SSX, we have always enjoyed riding down virtual slopes. We never felt, however, that these games were true enough to the sport. They offered at best somewhat realistic experiences and usually completely ignored skiing. This troubled us. So, we went about to fix it.

SNOW is the winter sports answer to the popularity of SKATE. This is a game about powder, about drops, about chutes and spines. This is your whiteout day or your bluebird delight. If you ever wanted an authentic freeride and freestyle ski and snowboard game, here it is.

But unfortunately it’s not that easy. Because game development is a long process, SNOW is not yet complete. Instead of waiting until it’s done to let you try it, we decided to release our earliest playable version for free so that you can all be a part of our development process. Incorporating your feedback, we plan to release new versions of the game as we get closer and closer to completion.

We are excited to announce that SNOW Version 0.1 will be released before the end of the year!

For now, we have made a short teaser trailer to whet your appetite and get you excited for what to expect from SNOW. So, check out the trailer, let us know what you think and stay tuned for news and more information about Version 0.1!

Enjoy the SNOW.
